MCP overview
Connect an AI assistant to your Fusial workspace to search contracts, review clauses, track deadlines, and generate drafts.
Fusial's Model Context Protocol (MCP) server lets an AI assistant work with your contracts directly. Connect your workspace, then ask questions or request changes in plain language. The assistant discovers the tools available to your connection and calls them on your behalf.
Server address
https://app.fusial.com/api/mcp
The server uses Streamable HTTP and supports OAuth or a Fusial API key. You don't need to run a local server. Copy the address from Settings → MCP in Fusial, or follow the connection guide.
What you can ask
| Task | Example request |
|---|---|
| Find contracts | “List our contracts with Acme that are still in negotiation.” |
| Understand wording | “Find the termination clause in this MSA and quote the notice requirement, with section references.” |
| Review risk | “Compare this contract's liability and indemnity clauses with our playbook.” |
| Track deadlines | “Show renewals and notice deadlines over the next 90 days, with the owner and date we need to act.” |
| Check signatures | “Which contracts are waiting for the counterparty to sign?” |
| Prepare a draft | “Create an NDA from our template. Ask me for any missing details before generating it.” |
| Update records | “Assign this contract to Alex and mark the completed obligation as done.” |
Read-only connections support research and reporting. Creating drafts or updating records requires the corresponding write scopes.
Tools, resources, and prompts
- Tools let the assistant query records, search clauses, and make supported changes. Fusial exposes only tools whose primary scope your connection holds.
- Resources provide context such as your negotiation playbook, a contract brief, or a template's intake fields. Clients that support resources can present them for attachment to a conversation.
- Prompts provide reusable workflows for contract summaries, risk reviews, renewal watchlists, response drafts, and template intake.
See the tool reference for the complete list. Resource and prompt availability also depends on scopes and your client's support for those features.
Working with contract wording
For a question about what a document says, ask the assistant to read the
analysis, search for the relevant clause, and then read the actual sections.
Findings should cite section ordinals, such as 7.2, so you can check the
wording. An AI summary alone is not a substitute for reading the clause.
Results are bounded to fit an assistant's context. A result with _truncation
is incomplete: narrow the filters, request fewer results, or read smaller
groups of sections before drawing conclusions about the whole portfolio.
Supported changes
MCP can create contract records, generate draft documents from templates, update contract metadata and owners, make allowed status transitions, update counterparties, and complete, dismiss, or reopen obligations.
It cannot delete records, upload documents, manage members or webhooks, edit counterparty contacts, or create, send, sign, or void signature requests. Complete signing actions in the Fusial signing flow. Generating a draft through MCP does not send it to the counterparty.
