Assigning documents to teammates

Route a contract — or a single redline issue — to a specific reviewer so the work has a clear owner.

Once a contract is uploaded and analyzed, the next question is usually who's deciding the redlines? Fusial supports two flavors of assignment:

  • Contract-level assignments — route the whole contract to one or more teammates.
  • Per-issue assignments — route a single AI redline issue to a specific reviewer.

Contract-level assignments

Each contract can carry one or more assignments. Every assignment has a single assignee, a status, and an optional note.

Creating an assignment

  1. Open the contract.
  2. Click New assignment.
  3. Pick the assignee. Optionally add a note explaining what's needed.
  4. Click Create.

The assignee gets a notification immediately — in-app, by email, and in Slack if your organization has Slack linked.

Assignment status

An assignment moves through these states:

StatusMeaning
OpenDefault on creation.
In progressThe assignee is actively working on it.
CompletedMarked done from the assignment list.
CancelledWithdrawn from the assignment list.

Open and in-progress assignments show Complete and Cancel buttons in the contract's assignment list. Completed and cancelled assignments stay in the list for audit purposes.

Multiple assignees on one contract

Each assignment has a single assignee, but a contract can have several assignments at once. Use this when legal and business need to weigh in together — create one assignment per person with a note explaining each scope.

"Assigned to me"

The dashboard has an Assigned to me filter. It surfaces every contract with an open or in-progress assignment to you.

Per-issue assignments

When you're working through a redline pass, you can also assign individual AI redline issues. Open a suggestion in the issue inspector and pick an assignee from the picker in the issue header.

Per-issue assignments don't change the contract-level assignment list — they exist alongside it, so a contract with one overall reviewer can still have specific Must-have issues routed to a senior teammate.

When a member is removed

When a member is removed from your organization, their existing assignments remain in the contract history for audit, but they can no longer be assigned new work.

Automating assignments

To route contracts to teammates automatically based on contract content, type, role, or value, set up a workflow. Workflows can assign a contract, change its owner, and override the SLA rule attached to it.
