How do I invite a teammate?
Owners and admins can invite teammates to a Fusial workspace from the Members page. Choose Member, Viewer, or Admin; invitations expire after 48 hours; billable seats are reserved as soon as you send the invite. This page covers the full flow, the invitee experience, and how to manage pending invitations.
Inviting someone adds them to your Fusial workspace. Once they accept, they can see and act on contracts according to the role you give them.
Who can invite
Owners and admins can send invitations. Members and viewers cannot — if you don't see a Members entry in the sidebar, ask an owner or admin in your workspace to send the invite for you. See What can each role do?.
Step by step
- In the left sidebar, click Members.
- Click Invite member in the top right.
- Enter their work email address.
- Choose a role: Member, Viewer, or Admin. Member is the default. (Ownership cannot be transferred — see Can ownership be transferred?.)
- Click Send invitation.
Fusial emails the invitee a link to join your workspace. The Members page shows the invitation in a Pending invitations section while it's outstanding.
Which role should I pick?
- Member — full workspace access. Can upload contracts, run AI redlines, comment, accept/reject changes, and export
.docxfiles. Counts as a billable seat. Pick this for anyone actively working on contracts. - Admin — everything a member can do, plus manage members, billing, security policy, integrations, and workspace settings. Counts as a billable seat. Pick this for people who run the workspace as well as work in it.
- Viewer — read-only access. Cannot upload, edit, comment, be assigned work, or download exported
.docxfiles. Free — doesn't count toward your seat bill. Pick this for stakeholders, observers, outside counsel reviewing read-only, or auditors.
You can change someone's role any time after they accept from the Members page.
What the invitee sees
They get an email from Fusial with a link to accept. Clicking the link opens the join screen:
- If they don't have a Fusial account yet, they're prompted to create an account with their name and a password. The email address is locked to the address you invited.
- If they already have a Fusial account on the invited email, they sign in and click Accept.
- If they're signed in with a different email than the one you invited, they see a notice that the invitation was sent to a different address and can switch accounts.
Invitations expire after 48 hours. If yours expires before it's accepted, send a new one.
Managing pending invitations
On the Members page, each pending invitation has a row with the invitee's email, the role, the expiry date, and a menu with:
- Copy invite link — useful if email delivery failed or you want to send the link over Slack instead.
- Revoke invitation — cancels the pending invite and releases the reserved seat.
There isn't a one-click Resend email action today. If the invitee never received the original email, the simplest path is Revoke invitation and send a fresh one.
Billing impact
Inviting someone as Member or Admin reserves a billable seat as soon as you send the invitation — not when they accept. If you're on a self-serve plan, the seat is prorated to your next invoice. Viewer invitations are free and don't affect your bill. Revoking a pending member/admin invite releases the seat.
If your workspace is on an invoiced or custom plan with a fixed seat count and you've used all of them, the invite is blocked with a seats in use error. Remove a teammate or revoke a pending invite to free a seat, email support@fusial.com, or book a call at fusial.cal.com/sales to expand your contracted seat count.
What happens after they accept
The invitee becomes a member of your workspace with the role you chose. They land on the workspace dashboard and can immediately do whatever their role allows. Their workspace actions — uploads, redlines, decisions on edits, role changes, and similar — are recorded in the audit log for your workspace.
