How does Fusial price seats?

Fusial is priced per seat, with monthly or annual billing. Billable seats are owners, admins, and members; viewers are free. Pending invitations count as seats immediately. This page covers what counts as a seat, adding and removing seats, switching roles, and how Stripe handles proration.

Fusial is priced per seat. You can pay monthly (renews each month) or annually (paid up front for 12 months). Your bill is the number of billable seats × the per-seat price for your chosen interval. Current per-seat pricing is on fusial.com.

What counts as a seat

A billable seat is anyone in your workspace with the role owner, admin, or member. Two things to know:

  • Pending invitations count as soon as you send them. The seat is reserved for the invitee while the invitation is open, so your bill goes up the moment you invite someone, not when they accept. If an invitation expires unaccepted or you cancel it, the seat is released.
  • Viewers are free and do not count toward your bill.
  • A single person who belongs to multiple Fusial workspaces consumes one seat in each workspace they're a billable member of.

Are viewers really free?

Yes. The viewer role exists for stakeholders, observers, and read-only collaborators — outside counsel checking in on a deal, finance reviewing summaries, anyone who needs to see contracts but not edit them. Viewers can read everything they're given access to but cannot upload, edit, comment, or be assigned work, and they cannot download exported .docx files.

Use viewers freely; there is no per-viewer charge.

Adding seats

Inviting a new owner, admin, or member adds a seat to your subscription right away. On a Stripe-billed plan, the seat is prorated: Stripe charges you for the remaining days in the current billing period on your next invoice. You don't get an extra charge that day — proration is applied to the next renewal invoice.

Removing seats

Removing a teammate releases the seat immediately and creates a prorated credit on your Stripe account for the unused portion of the current period. The credit is applied to your next invoice.

Switching roles

Promoting a viewer to member, admin, or owner converts a free seat into a billable seat the moment you change the role (and counts as adding a seat for proration). Demoting someone from member/admin/owner to viewer releases their billable seat with the same proration credit as removing them would.

Billing intervals

We offer monthly and annual billing. Annual customers pay for 12 months up front; current pricing for both intervals is on fusial.com. You can switch between monthly and annual through the Stripe billing portal (Settings → Billing → Open billing portal); the switch takes effect at your next renewal.

Currency, taxes, and invoices

  • Currency: the app displays prices in USD.
  • Tax: taxes (VAT/GST/sales tax) are applied by Stripe at checkout and on invoices where applicable, based on your billing address.
  • Invoices: all invoices live in the Stripe billing portal. Open it from Settings → Billing → Open billing portal, where owners and admins can download past invoices, update the billing address, and change the payment method.

What happens if I try to invite someone and run out of seats

If your workspace is on a self-serve Stripe plan, there is no fixed seat cap — inviting a new teammate adds a seat and you'll be billed for it. You won't be blocked.

If your workspace is on an invoiced or custom plan with a fixed seat count, the invite is blocked once the contracted seats are full. To add more people, either remove a teammate to free a seat, email support@fusial.com, or book a call at fusial.cal.com/sales to expand your contracted seat count.

External collaborators and counterparty contacts

Fusial doesn't have a separate "guest" plan. Two ways to handle people outside your team:

  • Counterparty contacts are contact records (name, email, role) attached to a counterparty for tracking purposes. They're not Fusial users and don't log in — no seat needed.
  • If someone genuinely needs to log in and view contracts in your workspace (e.g. outside counsel, an auditor), invite them as a viewer. Viewers are free.
